Pringle Brandon Perkins + Will have a reputation for being one of the most innovative designers of office interior architecture and workplace consultancy in the UK. They place an exceptionally high priority on Sustainability and Workplace effectiveness.  For the last 2 years Sentinel has worked along side a number of the PBP+W teams across Europe helping them integrate the and achieve the standards and requirements set by rating systems such BREEAM, Ska Rating and LEED.

LEED Accredited Professional Training

In June 2014 PBP+W approached Sentinel, who had already been providing LEED Consultancy support with PBP+W on a number of projects,  to establish a training programme for over 40 of its senior leadership team, including practice principals Jack Pringle, Chris Brandon, John Drew and William Poole-Wilson, through the LEED Green Associate and Accredited Professional credential process.

The programme was designed specifically to minimise impact on project and design commitments whilst providing enough support to ensure the highest possible pass rate of the robust GBCI exam process. The results to date have been impressive with all candidates achieving the LEED GA credential and, the first group expected to achieve the full LEED AP credential by Christmas 2014. As a result the programme is due to be expanded across the entire UK practice in 2015.

PBP+W understands that green building requires new skills and knowledge, as well as new attitudes and mindsets.  The skills required for a green building practice are not just knowledge of new strategies, materials, or equipment, although these are necessary. Green building practitioners need to learn how teams work, how to facilitate or participate in a productive discussion, how to work with people with different backgrounds and skills, and how to think outside their normal comfort zones when developing ideas.

LEED recognises this, which is why an AP is an ‘Accredited Professional’ and not an assessor.

Whilst LEED might not be the most widely used certification system in the UK or Europe the GA and AP credentials confirm each individual’s skills and understanding in Green Building and Workplace design. As Sustainability becomes even more embedded in the day to day design and operational process this is proving to be an exceptionally worthwhile investment by Pringle Brandon Perkins+Will.
